In order to maintain compliance with the Mine Act, all surface mining operations must have a Certified Person on duty at the mine (30 CFR Part 46.22). DOES MSHA PART 46 INCLUDE REQUIREMENTS FOR ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT INACTIVE UNDERGROUND METAL/NONMETAL MINING OPERATIONS?

If a surface mine does not inspect, test or maintain electrical equipment used in an underground metal/nonmetal mining operation, Part 46 does not apply. If it does and the requirements of this course are met, then Part 46 applies.

WHEN DOES MSHA PART 46 BECOME EFFECTIVE?

Part 46 became effective November 1, 2011.
